As the winter edges closer to spring Mr. Dometastic and I continue to do our homework.
Ok, maybe not that kind of homework but this means two things:
Because the construction is DIY friendly there are many examples of what we call "hippie houses" and many that are pretty wild architecturally. The "hippie houses" look handmade (not that there is anything wrong with that) and the other end was dreamed up by architects that were clearly given free rein to do whatever they wanted regardless of cost. There are not many in the middle that are documented really well. While we are planning on doing many things ourselves we are not going for the hippie handmade look and we can't afford the other end of the spectrum even if we wanted it. I stumbled on a video tour of a really nice dome home that actually falls in the middle. It is modern and unusual but not over the top and not a hippie house either. There is definitely an artistic touch to the design, materials and even the decor without going over the top. I think overall this is a really cool dome home example. It is also interesting because they combined domes with traditional construction for the center area. This is clearly a real estate sales video so I don't know how long this video will be active...watch it while you can!

- Paperwork for our house, specifically permits
- Research on ones already built
