We are now playing the waiting game.
It is the "Wait for Spring" game. Our decision to move our septic location has pretty much halted the progress I was making. We need to wait until spring to dig holes for the new perc tests. We have had some weird warm winter weather BUT it is really wet. It is wet and could decide to freeze at any point. February in CT is not known as a great time to plan outdoor work. The wise (although frustrating) thing is to wait until spring so we get our best shot at good perc tests. I thought this winter would be a great time to prepare our updated plot plan but that would be too easy. Like most big projects, there are bottlenecks in the timeline that make things screech to a halt before they go full speed again.
I am a patient person in most aspects of life but this does not extend to projects I am working on. Once I get going I can't just sit and wait. I get twitchy and need to focus on something else. My new focus is the barn. Mr. Dometastic seems to think that my ability as an illustrator/designer/sculptor should extend not only to playing General Contractor but also barn designer/builder. It is great that he has faith in my abilities to figure stuff out but I do feel a bit lost. I have absolutely no idea what I am doing! Lucky for me I have friends that know what they are doing but I feel it is my obligation to figure as much as I can on my own before pestering them.
While we wait for spring and for the final engineered house plans I am attempting to design plans for our barn that the town building inspector will accept. This means searching online for hints on what is standard practice in small pole barn building plans. When I think I am all set, I pester friends to look at it and tell me what I did wrong. I am currently on version 2 of the barn plans. The more I work on them the more questions I have.
I keep telling myself there is no rush and to enjoy the process. Back to the computerized drawing board!
